AUGUST 17th: Sessions with Juan Atkins
August 17, 2025 04:00 PM until August 17, 2025 10:00 PM
Sessions: rooftop gatherings for the artists who shaped the culture and the community that lives for it. Like the best recording sessions to the best smoke sessions...when that vibe hits, you know. Built by MeanRed for the creatives who built this shit and the people who get it. Monthly(ish) but fuck a calendar. When they land in Brooklyn, our doors open. Day to night, deep cuts to deeper connections.
LAUNCHING AUG 17th with the GODFATHER OF TECHNO Juan Atkins.
Just so you know we aren't playing, we're kicking it off with the godfather. A pioneer and architect who built the blueprint for his city and so much that followed.
Part of Detroit's legendary "Belleville Three" alongside Kevin Saunderson and Derrick May, Juan Atkins helped birth the Detroit techno movement from his grandmother's house with nothing but a Korg MS-10 and a vision of the future.
As a founding member of Cybotron in 1980, he created genre-defining tracks like "Alleys of Your Mind" and "Clear" that literally invented the sound of electronic music as we know it.
And most importantly - he took Detroit global. He forged the Detroit-Germany connection that defined underground culture, bridging two cities through pure sonic innovation.
Cybotron's Afrofuturist philosophy and experimental aesthetic became the foundation not just for techno, but for how we think about electronic music's relationship to identity, technology, and the future.
